FREE WILL, GOD'S WILL
Modern New Age Religion and humanism teaches us that “There are many ways to get to heaven.” To be honest with you, I haven’t taken a great deal of time to consider any of them.
From our Gospel reading this morning we can pick out several points of interest which carry over into the reading we heard from Paul’s first epistle to the church at Corinth.
I want to share with you today some thoughts about our Conference and our church.
We begin with the words recorded in Matthew which we heard earlier:
THIS IS MY BELOVED SON IN WHOM I AM WELL PLEASED.
Lolly and I were driving on route 93 in Hazleton. We came to a red light and had to stop. We were a few cars back and on the inside lane.
I was looking for a particular scripture that I couldn’t find, or, remember its location. So I turned to my concordance. While scanning the listing for all the occurrences of the word I suddenly became aware of a strange significance this word held.
I would like to reread portions of Paul’s words that we heard from 2 Timothy this morning, at least the last part of it:
This is Paul speaking of himself!
